Our journey so far

As a church we have desire for everyone to live a meaningful life, and one with hope for the future. But for those trapped in a cycle of addiction, the lifestyle of drug and alcohol misuse often leads to loss of health, family relationships, alienation from the wider community, and a sense of hopelessness.

We run a group for people impacted by addiction and have established excellent links with the local statutory and voluntary partners in building networks of support. Our recovery group information can be found on the following facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/GCBromsgroveRecovery

However, for a number of years now we have seen the need for a more intense form of residential support for those affected by addiction. To provide a home where recovery from addiction becomes possible. But also a recovery house which is imbedded in the wider community a church can offer.

We have raised some money already to get this recovery house off the ground, but we now need to extend our fundraising efforts further afield as we take the next step. To maximise the stability of the project over the long term we are looking for people to give into buying this property outright so we can use it to see many more people break the cycle of addiction. To make this recovery house a reality in the West Midlands area we need £500,000 to buy our identified property outright and make it ready for use. This is a big vision, but we have a big heart and we also believe we have credibility to make this recovery house a reality.

“The thing that turned it round for me… …was the unity in that house, the family time, the breakfast time, saying a prayer together…”

Partnership with Hope Ministries

Hope Ministries in Cwmbran, Wales have been partnering with churches in running a successful recovery programme since 2009. They run houses for men and women alongside a programme of recovery, with a focus on restoring hope, providing tools for staying drug and alcohol free, and preparing people to lead purposeful and meaningful lives. We intend to partner with them in providing something similar in the West Midlands. They would oversee the programme and our church would provide a wider community supporting the project.
